SU389980 FINISH, still on the A420 dual carriageway by-pass, beside the first drain in the lay-by, 29 yards west of and beyond the large sign at the extreme eastern end for the crossroads to Charney Basset and Longworth, 70 yards east of the footpath steps in the middle of the lay-by and 537 yards short of the crossroads. 10 miles.
NOTES. The A420 is a clearway and no parking is permitted on this road or on its verges. But there are several lay-byes along it. The course is a mixture of single and dual carriageway with traffic limited to 50 mph on all the single carriageway stretches. The start can best be reached either by crossing the A420 at the Longworth crossroads (Care) and climbing the hill towards Longworth to turn right through Hinton Waldrist village and down to the start or by going east through Kingston Bagpuize, left at the mini roundabout at the east end of the village onto to the A415 and straight across the A420 at the roundabout to take the first left off the A415 through Longworth and Hinton Waldrist. There is no right turn lane into the start lane from the A420 westbound and that route should not be attempted. Riders crossing A420 to the start must take Great Care not impede riders on the course. After finishing riders should continue westwards on A420 to the Longworth Charney Basset crossroads and turn left at the Southmoor roundabout. to the HQ at the Kingston Bagpuize and Southmoor Village Hall or (for club events) turn right into the Lamb and Flag dead end road. The course can be used at weekends (except on Saturdays from 09.00 to 14.00) and from 19.30 on weekday evenings Monday-Thursday.
